Evan Kubota (Facebook)

The Windsor City Council race is narrowed to two candidates after a third drops out. Evan Kubota announced via Facebook that he was dropping out of the race, leaving Michael Wall and Stephanie Ahmad as the two candidates. Kubota said he didn’t want to split the “anti-Green Company” vote. The Green Company has an exclusive negotiation agreement with the City of Windsor for the proposed civic center project, which Kubota and Wall oppose. Ahmad, meanwhile, said she was not a yes or no on the project and sees the exclusive negotiation agreement as a halfway point. The winner of the April 7 special election will serve the remainder of the seat’s term, which expires in December. The seat was vacated by Sam Salmon when he became mayor last year following Dominic Foppoli’s resignation.
