Charging centers will be opened statewide in the near future as more electric vehicles arrive, Energy, Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar said on Tuesday.

“As more and more electric vehicles arrive, electricity recharging centers will be opened across the state. We have contracted out various electricity supply companies (ESCOMs) to open recharging centers in district centers and tourist centers, “Kumar told reporters at the press conference. Speaking of farmers’ energy demand, he said there was a seven-hour continuous power demand for agricultural pumps.

In this regard, more than 60 substations will be built in 100 days by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) to enable the continuous supply of electricity to agricultural pumps.

The minister said he has drawn up a 100-day program to provide electricity to households in rural areas where there is no access to electricity. This will be implemented within the framework of the “Belaku” (Light) project, according to the wishes of the Chief Minister.

Kumar said his department would also set up a “transformer bank” to change faulty transformers. This bank will be used to replace damaged transformers in just 24 hours.

The minister, who also holds the portfolio of Kannada and Culture, said the tendency to apply for the Rajyotsava Prize should be discouraged so that the tradition of identifying winners across the state should begin.

Kumar also explained the plans to celebrate India’s Platinum Jubilee of Independence by informing the people of the state about the contribution of Karnataka, its villages and its people to the struggle for freedom.
